Brewery Hop in Denver Colorado - Near Empower Field at Mile High Stadium & Sloan Lake

In Colorado, we love our sports teams! We love our Broncos, Avalanche, Nuggets and Rockies!  And, with an average of 300 days of sunshine in Denver each year, a day at the Bronco's football stadium or Rockies baseball field is always great time. Though many people enjoy tailgating before a game, we enjoy a brewery hop before or after a game. While you are in Denver, attend an athletic event and also check out a few craft breweries within a short drive of Empower field at Mile High.

Today, Colorado boasts more than 400 craft breweries. There are over 100 craft breweries within the Denver metro area. Check out a few of the great craft breweries just west of downtown Denver with this fun brewery hop near Empower Field at Mile High Stadium.

We encourage you to start the brewery hop at Little Machine Beer, just a hop-skip-and a jump away from Empower Field. Then take the brewery hop by heading south on Federal to 17th Ave and head west to Odell Brewing. Next, go south on Perry Street to Colfax and head east to Seedstock Brewery. From there, take Colfax Ave to east to Races. Finish off your brewery hop at Strange Craft which is a short drive south on Zuni Street.

Another option is to go backwards - starting at Strange Craft and ending the brewery hop at Little Machine.

Owners, Brett Williams, Mike Dunkly and Ben Chenard opened Little Machine brewery in 2015. This taphouse is located just north west of Empower Field at Mile High. They have a cool, circular bar and an industrial, urban vibe. You can sit inside or outside in their biergarten overlooking the football stadium. They have 13 tasty beers on tap and often host food trucks.

Review:

We enjoyed sitting in the biergarten and enjoying the Colorado weather. Staff was super friendly. I tried the Concrete Paradise Pineapple IPA, a smooth and creamy IPA with subtle pineapple notes which make this an absolute crushable pleasure on a warm fall Friday. This welcoming brewery is well worth the visit!

Odell Brewing was founded in 1989 by Doug Odell, his wife Wynn and his sister Corkie, but has been  100% employee owned since 2015. The brewery and tap house located on the beautiful Sloan's Lake opened in 2021. It has a modern industrial décor with plenty of seating inside & a rooftop patio.  They have 16 beers on tap and also serve apps, salads and pizza.

Come for great beer...stay for a relaxing dinner, fun with friends or an enjoying trivia night.

Review:

We enjoyed having a beer while visiting with friends. The apps & pizza was pretty yummy. They were doing trivia while we were there - we did not participate, but it did look like fun and the people watching was a real treat!

Seedstock Brewery

3610 W Colfax Ave, Denver, CO 80204

https://seedstockbrewery.com/

This brewery and taphouse, named by founders from Nebraska, opened in 2016 and was purchased by Adam, Jerry and Kathy McIlvenna in 2021. This craft brewery focuses on recipes from Czech Republic and Germany. With 12 beers on tap and an industrial décor, this is a relaxing place to have a beer. You can sit inside at the bar or tables or on the patio. Located on the corner of Lowell and Colfax, this is a great place to have a beer before a football game.

Review:

This brewery was a relaxing place to have a beer. They have a nice patio out front, but you can definitely hear the traffic on Colfax! One thing I like about this time of year is the release of all Marzen beers. This one has a smooth, caramelly mouth feel that could easily be served at a bretzelfest in Germany. Prost Seedstock.

Raices Brewing Company

2060 W. Colfax Ave., Denver

https://www.raicesbrewing.com/

This Latin owned and themed brew pub opened in September 2019.  With ample indoor and outdoor seating overlooking the South Platte river and bike trail, this is a very beautiful place for an afternoon beer! The many beer choices along with the Latin American food options make this a gem. Come here to enjoy rotating Latin food options, pizza and pretzels, as well as, cultural events. They have 18 beers on tap and also serve wine and non-alcoholic beverages.

Review:

We love this place. The biergarten has a beautiful view of the Platte River trail and trees. You can even see the football stadium! I had the Furia, at 8.3 ABV, this Imperial Red IPA is a as smooth as silk. Very well balanced flavor and aroma. Enjoying this one on a warm fall afternoon overlooking the Platte River brings a peaceful end to a chaotic week. Solud Raices!

Strange Craft Beer Company

1330 Zuni St Unit M, Denver, CO 80204

https://www.strangecraft.com/

Owners Tim Myers & John Fletcher opened Strange Craft in 2010.  This brewery and taproom is located just South of Mile High Stadium and has a very relaxed, city atmosphere. This small brewery backs up to the light rail tracks, which makes for a very urban and reasonably sized biergarten out back.

Review:

We enjoyed having a beer in the biergarten on a sunny afternoon. The urban feel is different than most other biergartens than we have been to, but it is fun watching the light rail train speed by.
