Visit a Veteran-Owned Brewery in Colorado
Though we have not served in the military, we appreciate those that have served our country and value the sacrifice that each member of the service gave for our freedom and safety.
Many of the Veteran owned breweries that we have visited celebrate their personal service and honor those that served with and before them with memorabilia from their work. We enjoy examining all of these artifacts and appreciate the small window into their world and service.
With this small blog, we thank those that served our country, and those that went on to brew beer for our community. Thank you for your service!
For our readers, we hope you check out some of these Veteran owned breweries. And while you are there enjoying a tasty brew, thank them for their service.

Launch Pad, Aurora
884 S Buckley Rd, Aurora, CO 80017
This brewery and tap house is 100% veteran owned and operated! Owners, David Levesque, Henry Rusch and Paul Mahoney, are Air Force Veterans who opened Launch Pad Brewery in 2015. With a motto of “craft beer is our rocket fuel," you can't go wrong.
This large taphouse pays homage to the Air Force and those who have served. There is plenty of seating in this very open concept tap house and many (32) beers on tap to choose from. Enjoy the cool mural & pictures of rockets while watching sports on the TVs, enjoying a beer and socializing with friends. You can sit at the bar, a table or on on the patio. The brewery hosts food trucks and has events like trivia, football games, and more.
The beer here is always on point and the atmosphere is relaxing and welcoming. We enjoyed having a beer and some quesadillas from the food truck. Most recently, I had the Strawberry Moon, a fruity American blonde ale with a hint of vanilla - a mildly sweet and smooth ale.
Peak View Brewing Company, Greenwood Village
9672 E Arapahoe Rd, Greenwood Village, CO
https://www.peakviewbrewing.com/menus/
This Airforce veteran owned brewery is located in a busy retail area of the Denver Tech Center in Greenwood Village. Owners and brewers Sean, a retired Senior Airman in the U.S. Air Force, Justen, a Air Force veteran, and Jay opened the brewery in 2016. This taproom, named in homage to their service, pays tribute to our service members through their beer and the décor.
Have a seat at the bar, at a table near a garage door that brings the outside in to the taproom or at a picnic table (which looks and feels a bit like a parking lot) while you enjoy your beer. This taphouse welcomes everyone, even our 4-legged best friends. With 18 beers on tap, 4 craft seltzer and food trucks, they make everyone happy. If you are lucky, live music will add to the ambiance of your beer-tiful afternoon.
We always enjoy the warm, welcoming environment at Peak View and especially love chatting with the beer tenders here. If you are out shopping for a car, you should definitely stop by this place!
Wild Blue Yonder Brewing Co, Castle Rock
519 Wilcox St, Castle Rock, Colorado 80104
https://wildblueyonderbrewing.com/
Air Force veterans, Andrew & Dean Wasson and Andrew's wife Rachel opened Wild Blue Yonder Brewing in 2018. The taphouse is located in a historic site which was built on 1/3 acres to include a carriage house built in 1887 and a Victorian house built in 1902. The original and spectacular bar has a map of flight patterns from various airports, which fits pays respect and homage to the owners' Air Force background.
This modern, open concept brewery has a diner feel and garage doors that open to a large beer garden. They have a full food menu, serve wine and spirits and have 16 beers on tap. With plenty of seating inside and out, and a dog friendly beer garden...well everyone can order something they enjoy.
As we sat at the bar and treated ourselves to a few beers, it was great to meet owners, Andrew and his wife Rachel, who were very down to earth and friendly. We did not eat, but the food smelled amazing. If you enjoy a little spice, try the Xocolatl, a Maya inspired Imperial Stout that boasts 10.3 ABV. This beer is dangerously smooth with hints of coffee, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cacao and full of tasty goodness. But, if your tastebuds are craving sweet and tart, have the Creamsicle Barley Pop which is a nice, blended flavor that is listed as a Kettle sour but more of a mouth feel that finishes with a vanilla smoothness.
Brass Brewing Company, Colorado Springs
318 E Colorado Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80903
This smaller, veteran owned brewery and tap house honors those who served with pictures and memorabilia all over the walls. Owners Wayne (Woody) and Kellee Briggs opened Brass Brewing Company in 2018.
This relaxing brewery is a great place to have a beer, though the many pictures of heroes hung on the walls, is a bit intimidating. With 12 beers on tap a large beautiful bar and a comfortable environment, this is a a wonderful place to enjoy a beer and appreciate those who served our country.
We enjoyed our beers at Brass Brewing while playing a game of shuffleboard. Super fun. I had the Hurry up and Wait Belgian Stout, a full-bodied stout with coffee notes and a toffee finish - yum!
Red Leg Brewing Company, Colorado Springs
2323 Garden of the Gods Rd, Colorado Springs, CO 80907
Todd Baldwin, president and founder, was a fire support specialist and served as a Field Artillery Officer in the Army’s 101st Airborne Division and opened Red Leg Brewing Company in 2013. Red Leg Brewing Company gets its name from the red stripe that runs down the pant leg of Civil War artillery soldiers so that they could be seen through the smoke of cannon fire. Enjoy a beer, the outdoors and your choice of food options at this fun brewery.
“I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts, and beer.” — Abraham Lincoln
